Cardo Systems and SENA open up for seamless communication between intercom units.

SENA and Cardo, two of the leading manufacturers of motorcycle intercoms, have long struggled to make their devices compatible. But now it seems that this problem will soon be a thing of the past. Cardo Systems has announced that they have made progress in increasing compatibility between different intercom brands, especially between Cardo and Sena devices.

The company previously introduced the OBi (Open Bluetooth Intercom) standard, which enables Bluetooth connection between communication devices from Cardo, UClear, Midland, and Daytona. This allows the devices to be seamlessly connected without limiting intercommunication capabilities. The second phase, implemented in July, expanded compatibility to Sena devices and the latest generation of intercoms from the Italian manufacturer Interphone. Connecting to these devices is now as simple and hassle-free as connecting to Bluetooth devices from the same brand. The connection retains all features that are native to these brands (except music sharing) and does not require a phone connection, but it has not yet been possible to connect via MESH.

According to Ultimate Motorcycling, Cardo announced on September 27 that the latest update enables a bridge connection between Bluetooth on the DMC system and SENA MESH. It is mentioned that two main units act as bridges for other users, who can then connect to these bridge units, presumably via the MESH network. However, there are no detailed descriptions of what users will receive. It is unclear whether the bridge units connect via Bluetooth and then expand to other users via the mesh network.

You can already test the latest firmware and let us know how everything works :) One thing is for sure - a big thank you to both companies for their collaboration, as all motorcyclists will benefit from this.
